Our Story

It begins in 1966 in Jakarta, Indonesia when Mitzi Oktaviani, founder grandmother’s started her own bakery. Mitzi started her baking passion since she was 4 years old. Mitzi grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia up until her teenager years before she started her journey studying and travelling across the world. In 2015, she moved in to London and immediately fell in with the city and decided to stay to create another adventure.

However, living in London is not always easy as and flying back home is not necessarily a short journey to make. Until, she decided to start her passion to bake again during Covid-19 Lockdown and found a way to feel closer to home.

Following in her grandmother’s footsteps with early memories of her Mitzi's Bakes inspired to create and share her passion and happiness with others. Initially using her grandmother’s tried and trusted recipes of 50 years then adapting them, Mitzi is continuing her family heritage producing Dutch influenced Indonesian pastry, cake, and cookies.

Combining her background from South East Asia, love for baking and the memory of her grandmother, Mitzi’s Bakes is introducing the richness of Indonesian culture has to offer and that’s how Mitzi’s Bakes is born.
